Cast a Spell with Witch Costumes
by Sherene on Friday, May 1st, 2009In February 1692, Betty Parris, Abigail Williams and their friend Ann Putnam, began having “fits” that defied all explanation. Lacking a natural explanation, the Puritans determined that the girls were bewitched.
In what became known as the Salem Witch Trials, many harmless folk were accused of witchcraft based on the account of these young girls, including the slave woman Tibuta, who had previously told the girls mesmerizing stories that sparked their young imaginations. Tibuta was forced to confess that devil came to her and bid her serve him.
Sadly, accusations of witchcraft back in the not-so-good ole’ days had less to do with witchcraft and more to do with social or religious strife and ignorance.
Well, you won’t go on trial for being a witch, these days…so conjure up some fun with our large collection of witch costumes! Whether you want to be a Gothic Witch or an elegant Rose Witch, magic awaits you at Costume Craze!
