We are delighted they sent us a photo! There’s hardly a better way to celebrate Halloween than deciding on a group theme and dressing up with friends. The gals call this “The Seasons of Madonna.”
A Tale of Two Penguins
This is a great story! We recently had a customer order Penguin Costumes from us. The customer explained that the costumes were for a wedding! The bride and groom want to dress as penguins because they mate for life. The couple will also perform the “pebble ritual” to complete the ceremony.
I did some penguin research and found this to be true. Adelie penguins are amazing birds. They really do mate for life, and there really is a “pebble ritual.”
Adelie penguins use pebbles and small rocks to make their nests. Because they live on the frozen, barren Antartica coast, pebbles can be scarce and hard to find. The penguins are notorious for stealing each other pebbles and fighting ferociously over these precious little rocks.
When a male penguin courts a female, he gives her a pebble as a gift. These pebbles hold considerable value and it’s actually quite touching that he would give one away. If the female accepts the generous gift, they bond and mate for life.
There was an animated children’s movie in the ’90s about this called The Pebble and the Penguin. It’s a love tale about two Adelie penguins. Here’s a clip from the movie that illustrates the significance of the pebble ritual.
Aww, how cute. I know it’s Halloween season but today it sure feels like Valentine’s Day. Let’s hope we get some wedding photos, that would be fantastic. Best wishes to the bride and groom!
ThatCostumeGirl has several great stories about Dragon*Con 2008 over on her blog. She’s also added 300 fantastic photos to her Photo Gallery.
She gives Costume Craze a nice shout-out, and we appreciate that. We want to support her costume endeavors, so we hooked her up with a VIP club room at the Atlanta Sheraton. We’re proud to be her costume partner and we are big fans of her blog.
Dragon*Con looks like such a fun, crazy experience. I just HAVE to go next year.
On a related note, we recently received a comment from one of our customers who ordered this Star Trek costume:
“Arrived quickly and was in perfect condition. Wore it to Dragon Con in Atlanta and had my picture taken many times over.”
Now THAT’S what we like to hear!
Be sure to visit ThatCostumeGirl to read all about the fun she had and to see some great pictures of Dragon*Con!
We LOVE seeing happy customers wearing our costumes. It’s great to see how much fun the little boy is having, dressing up and pretending to be a superhero. Looks like the baby is enjoying it, too.
The Arcadia Theater in Olney, IL had a Hellboy pizza party to celebrate the release of Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. We’re honored that they chose Costume Craze to get their Deluxe Hellboy Costume.
Doesn’t he look great?
They were really happy with the costume and gave us a big shout out on their website. I think this is just great. I love being in this business, it’s all about helping people have fun.
