What Should I Be For Halloween? [Quiz]

by on Thursday, September 29th, 2016

Sometimes, a Halloween costume is simply meant to be.

Most of us have seen someone decked out in their Halloween costume and have it look SO good that you know they were just made for it. The only problem is, it can be super tricky to actually figure out what you can wear that will look just as fantastic (if not better).

Halloween gives us a great excuse to show off sides of our personality that we usually keep out of the light. Whether that alternate character is scary, eccentric, or even sexy, once you find the right fit you’ll know it.

Or maybe you want to accentuate a side of yourself that everyone knows well. Going big and bold around Halloween time is pretty much the norm. Whichever direction you decide to go with, sometimes a little outside help can make it easier to settle on a costume choice.

Take advantage of vintage items that can be repurposed, costumes and props to create your Steampunk look. Store-bought items are not a bad thing and are often necessary for those of us that can’t sew to save our lives.

By plan ahead, we’re not talking days. Think weeks or months before the event date arrives.

Your original plans may not work out, and it’s common for a costume to evolve during the creation process. It’s also a good idea to have a backup plan in case something goes wrong with your first attempt.

7) Just Have Fun

Try not to take things too seriously.

It’s normal to be a little apprehensive about something you’re not experienced in, but stressing over getting it exactly “right,” can suck all the fun out of it. Just relax and give yourself a chance to explore this new opportunity.

Once you’ve taken part in your first Steampunk cosplay, you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner!

[Warning] If These Costumes Don’t Give You Nightmares Nothing Will

by on Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

It’s one thing to wear a scary costume for Halloween.

Most of us enjoy the spooky atmosphere of this holiday, but there are some costumes that take it to another level.

Before you go any further, you should prepare yourself for some images that may never leave your mind. If you thought your costume was scary, then you obviously haven’t laid eyes on the horrifying images below.

Let’s take a journey down nightmare lane — and see how many of us come out on the other side…

1) Peter Rottentail

There is something about evil bunnies that is just terrifying. Think Frank the Rabbit from Donny Darko, or Monty Python’s Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog.

If you want to send the masses screaming in the other direction this Halloween, going as Peter Rottentail is a safe bet.

2) The Other Mother

Why do children’s movies often have the most disturbing characters?

If you’ve seen the animated film, Coraline, then you should be familiar with “the Other Mother,” — And you have probably racked up a hefty therapy bill.

Sometimes it’s the subtle sinister qualities of a costume that make it remarkable.

3) Slender Man

Did anyone else have to silence the scream in their heart after laying eyes on this creation?

There is something about the abnormally long limbs and pasty, featureless face that brings nightmares to life. If you happen to glimpse him standing among the trees or outside your bedroom window your time on this earth may be limited.

4) “Back in MY Day…”

We’ve all heard the stories.

Walking uphill BOTH ways, making trips to the library to do research, and oh yeah, Halloween costumes that were actually terrifying.

It’s rare that we see anything this scary nowadays, and the picture above doesn’t even depict the worst of it. That’s right, some of the things we saw were too scary for our blog.

5) Noseybonk

Scariest Costume Ever

This chilling character is supposedly a product of an “educational program.” What he was supposed to teach us is irrelevant, because who could remember anything after looking into that face? I’m having enough trouble remembering my name…

If you want to keep this nightmare alive, then dressing up in a Noseybonk costume is the way to go.

6) Creepy Puffy Baby

I don’t think I could ever look at a coworker the same way after seeing them flailing around in this costume.

There is just something utterly disturbing about the baby mask paired with the puffy body suit – and what is the purpose of the tie? If you want to get back at your boss for eating the Twinkies you left in the break room, this is definitely one way to do it.

7) Pretty Much Any Clown Costume

Pick any clown costume.

The big birthing hips on the delightful one above made it a winner in my book. But there is really no limit to the blood-freezing clown costumes out there.

Are there any other shudder-worthy costumes you think we should add to the list?
